Position Description:
The University of Iowa College of Nursing seeks Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioners certified as AGNP, PMHNP or FNP to serve as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) Faculty. These are fiscal (12-month) Lecturer or Clinical-track rank faculty positions at the College of Nursing with a teaching role and a practice/service role. Full time appointment is preferred.

Teaching responsibilities may consist of teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses, supervising students or other course related activities during the academic year (fall and spring semesters) and during the summer semester. Teaching assignments are made by the Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in collaboration with the Director of Faculty Practice. In the practice role, the NP will provide the community with exceptional nursing-based health care while supplying the College of Nursing with clinical opportunities for the faculty, staff, and students as well as a source of revenue. The NP will function as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner. Practice duties will include: providing direct patient care in the form of assessment, diagnosis, and plan of care for clients; documentation and billing of above; scheduling own patient case load; teaching and consultation (formal and/or informal) with families, staff, and patients. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Provide direct care to clients in a variety of settings.

2. Provide necessary chart review, physical examination, orders and documentation to provide appropriate level of care.

3. Provide appropriate billing and coding to meet guidelines.

4. Precept ARNP students in their educational development.

5. Teach clinical and/or didactic courses or perform other course related activities to undergraduate or graduate nursing students.

Education Requirement:
The Lecturer rank requires a Masters of Science in Nursing; DNP preferred. A clinical-track faculty rank requires a Doctoral degree (PhD or Doctorate of Nursing Practice) or other terminal degree from an accredited school.

Required Qualifications:
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with staff, students, patients and families.

Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.

Ability to establish goals, schedule work/visits, and set deadlines for completion of visits in a timely manner.

Ability to accurately maintain a system of records.

Proficient in use of computer software applications.

Certifications:
Current licensure as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner in the State of Iowa.

HIPAA training.

CPR certification.

Mandatory reporter training.

Valid Driver’s License including qualifying to drive university vehicles as outlined in the University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standards (University of Iowa Operations Manual Part V, Chapter 19).

Desirable Qualifications:
Teaching experience at the undergraduate or graduate level, particularly clinical supervision or experience as a clinical preceptor for ARNP students is desirable.

Experience as an Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner is desirable.

Experience with Medicare/Medicaid billing and coding is desirable.
