Saint Raphael School seeks to cultivate students who possess 21st Century skills centered on the use of technology in daily learning activities. The Technology Teacher is responsible for teaching students in grades Pre-school through Eighth grade, using developmentally appropriate material, computer and media skills on mainly the iPad platform, SmartBoard and occasionally on the Mac platform. This is a part time/three (3) days per week position.
•A Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
•Maintains or will attain prior to the 2014-2015 school year, a valid Massachusetts teacher certification which is grade level and subject area appropriate.
•A proven ability to work in a polite and friendly manner with students, colleagues, and parents.
•A competency and passion to engage students in an academically appropriate manner.
•Knowledge of the state frameworks related to technology and media.
•Content and pedagogical knowledge of educational technology and iPads.
•Candidates should also have a desire to become an active and collegial member of an adult community of learners.
•Design and teach lessons in the use of technology as a tool for learning and teaching.
•Identify and integrate supportive uses of technology within the curriculum.
•Support students, faculty, and staff in the use of technology.
•Instruct students grades preschool through 8 in accessing of information technology
and media skills.
•Conference with teachers to design interdisciplinary lessons.
•Keep current regarding evolving educational technology and initiatives.
Equipment and Maintenance:
•Maintain and update school iPads and Mac laptops.
Faculty and Staff Support:
•Evaluate and recommend opportunities for technology integration to enhance curriculum areas.
•Collaborate with teachers to develop lessons that tie into classroom core subject areas.
•Identify and develop proficiency with educational software and other technology resources.
•Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the principal.
Teachers at Saint Raphael should have the goal to help students learn subject matter, skills, and Catholic values that will contribute to their development as mature, knowledgeable, and responsible young men and women.
