Coordinate daily operational activities for the adult, junior, pet therapy, student and hospital auxiliary volunteer programs.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
Customer Service Advocate:
Welcome patients, family members, clients, physicians and visitors in a courteous, professional manner.
Ensure visitors and patients are escorted to their destination and introduce them to the next appropriate caretaker. Serve as a source of information for patients and visitors. Serve as a source of information regarding locations of physician medical clinics, community services and other healthcare related resources.
Volunteer Services: Coordinate daily operational activities for the adult, junior, student, pet therapy and hospital auxiliary volunteer programs.
Oversee the recruiting, interviewing, training and scheduling of volunteers.
Ensure that the activities of the volunteer meet the needs of the organization.
Oversee orientation to HIPAA, Fire Safety and Infection Control in accordance to TJC standards.
Revise and update service descriptions, applications, orientation packets, policies/procedures and volunteer handbooks as needed.
Maintain current and accurate database of all hospital volunteers.
Plan and coordinate the annual Awards Banquet, Volunteer Week and Volunteer Membership Luncheons.
Assist the Hospital Auxiliary with Scholarship Program and Auxiliary Wish List.
Maintain the volunteer department's intranet site.
Become familiar with community senior services. Coordinate volunteer participation in the annual walk/run.
atient Loyalty: Serves on the Patient Loyalty Committee and supports Patient Advocacy through tracking and trending. Coordinates volunteers as needed for patient advocacy initiatives and assists with other volunteer related projects to promote patient advocacy.
Pet Therapy Program:
Prepares handouts and packets prior to information sessions; collects completed paperwork for new volunteers; creates new files and completes background check; maintains spreadsheet for record-keeping for pet therapy teams; notifies pet therapy volunteers of inactive status; coordinates quarterly meetings for the pet therapy volunteers; tracks medical surveillance for volunteers and canine health requirements and follows up with volunteers as needed.
Special duties and projects as assigned. Keeps lobby area straightened and clean of clutter. Maintains a selection of current magazines and newspapers.
Notifies housekeeping of any cleaning issues, spills or other needs.
Full-Time (1.0 FTE)
Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor's degree preferred.
3-5 years administrative experience preferred.
Prior volunteer coordinating and h
ealthcare experience preferred.
Hospitality and/or human resources experience a plus.
Ability to manage multiple projects/priorities necessary.
Ability to present positive, professional image of the hospital necessary.
Bilingual/Spanish language skills helpful.
