The primary function of this position is to assist Vermont Federal Credit Union to live our mission, "To make a decided difference in the lives of our members". One of the primary means to achieve this end is to ensure that outstanding service is delivered to both internal and external members. Reviews and analyzes credit applicants to assess credit worthiness and risk. Responsible for the quantitative and qualitative analysis of applicant requests for loans and lines of credit. Assess collateral values and credit risk, and prepare written credit?approval packages or denial correspondence. In addition, this employee will process daily credit transactions per the credit policy and procedure manuals; to maintain records and files on all credit transactions, including correspondence and documents.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
Analyze credit data and financial statements for businesses to determine the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money.
Provides and maintains reporting requirements on Credit Union members' credit obligations as well as regular reports including the degree of risk involved in extending credit or lending money on commercial requests. Compare liquidity, profitability, and credit histories of establishments being evaluated with those of similar establishments in the same industries and geographic locations.
Analyze financial data such as income growth, quality of management, and market share to determine expected profitability of loans. Conduct annual reviews on credits to ensure portfolio quality.
Responds to staff business services inquiries and issues, offering resolutions in a courteous manner.
Deliver outstanding service that is in alignment with the Credit Union's Service Promises.
Have complete understanding of the Vermont Federal Credit Union loan policy to ensure that all loans comply with policy. Complies with all federal and state regulations, all applicable laws and Vermont Federal Credit Union policies including but not limited to SBA. Ensure conformity with procedures, policies and objectives with all loan and lending requests.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Five years to ten years of similar or related experience. Knowledge of SBA Programs, 7A, 504 Express. A college degree. Experience in a financial institution preferred.
A significant level of trust and diplomacy is required, in addition to normal courtesy and tact. Work involves extensive personal contact with others and/or is usually of a personal or sensitive nature. Work may involve motivating or influencing others. Outside contacts become important and fostering sound relationships with other entities (companies and/or individuals) becomes necessary.
