Millstone Health Physicist Intern will work with the Radiation Protection & Chemistry - Radiological Analysis group in Waterford, CT. As a Health Physicist Intern, you will work beside experienced mentors as you experience the opportunity to provide technical support to the health physics programs including radiological protection and ALARA through analysis and evaluation of programs, procedures and practices. The position will involve, but not be limited to, the following responsibilities and duties: |
Assist with technical evaluations including analyzing data, performing calculations, developing reports and making recommendations.
Assist in developing and reviewing procedures to ensure regulatory and technical accuracies of content.
Assist in research and report development on action items dealing with broad to specific radiation protection topics assigned by supervisor.
Assist with analyzing monthly performance measurement and performing other duties as requested or assigned.
Perform a work project to support a key radiation protection objective, develop a plan and incorporate improvements based on what you’ve learn.
This position will provide a taxable housing stipend and round trip travel reimbursement to Waterford, CT to eligible candidates.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Qualified candidates will have the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.
High level of aptitude for radiological physics philosophy. Strong technical experience is a plus.
Must be proficient in the basic concepts of measurement and detection of radiation.
Must be able to communicate well, follow instructions and be a team player.
Should have prior experience with Microsoft based computer applications.
Must be pursuing a Bachelors of Science degree at a 4 year accredited school. Applied Physics, Physics or Radiological Sciences degree programs are required.
Prefer to have a Sophomore status or higher.
Must have a 2.5 GPA or higher at the start of the Summer 2013 internship.
