Description: Position Summary This job is responsible for supervising, leading, and coordinating the respiratory care personnel. This position is for a Day Shift Team Leader. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Select, train, and orient staff; develop standard of performance; evaluate employee performance; initiate or make recommendations for personnel actions.
Implement and maintain department policies and procedures related to operations, financial and personnel activities.
Plan for adequate personnel, and resources to meet projected departmental needs; prepare budget recommendations; execute department expenditures and ensure that department operates within budget.
Review and evaluate patient orders, as back-up for Therapists, for appropriateness and for clinical therapeutic objectives; review physician progress notes to enhance care; and participate in patient rounds.
Perform various respiratory therapies for assigned area of responsibility.
Cooperate with the department director and medical director in planning the future development of the department and assigned area of responsibility, including short and long range objectives, and staff and equipment needs.
Coordinate the development of performance improvement indicators and monitor them within the clinical practice.
Provide clinical participation and assistance at the bedside and in multi-disciplinary settings. Qualifications Education
Associate degree in Respiratory Care, or completion of technical school training is required. Licenses & certifications
Designation as a Registered Respiratory Therapist and current license to practice in the state of Texas is required. P.A.L.S. certification also required. Experience
Three to four years of previous pediatric respiratory care or relevant work experience is required Specific knowledge, skills, and abilities
The ability to hear and communicate with others in a clear, understandable, and professional manner on the phone and in person; and the demonstrated use of good written and verbal communication skills.
The ability to interact effectively with peers, executive and medical staff, patient families, vendors and other customers in a manner that represents Children's positively.

The ability to provide clear and accurate direction and guidance, and the ability to train staff. Physical demands
Exposed to infectious/contagious diseases, blood and body fluids, needle sticks and other hazards which require special protective equipment, training and adherence to prescribed rules and procedures to ensure safety.
Requires visual and mental concentration on instruments, dials, readouts, and displays, and on work activities requiring precise hand-eye coordination.
Requires observation of and rapid reaction to changeable operations.
Requires physical ability to operate and/or repair mechanical equipment and to use hand tools.
Requires physical coordination to use medical instruments and to use a keyboard or keypad.
Requires physical effort to perform light manual labor, and for lifting, carrying, pushing or pulling heavy equipment.
Requires standing, walking or moving around the work place.
