Strike Warfare Technician (Job Number: 316830)
SAIC has an opening for a Vertical launching System (VLS) – Strike Warfare Technician for a client location in Norfolk, VA.
The VLS – Strike Warfare Technician candidate will provide overall technical support for the Mk 41 System missile cells during installation and loading, pre-firing, firing, and post firing evolutions. He/she will be responsible for performing customer support activities to include testing of equipment/launching mechanisms ensuring proper working order, isolating equipment malfunctions, and taking corrective actions. Support will also include providing equipment/systems enhancement recommendations to government and active duty shipboard personnel; training in equipment/systems operation, testing, and maintenance responsibilities; and interacting with customers, peer group SMEs and managers, and senior management. Other duties include assistance in the preparation of technical documentation and training materials.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and 3+ years of related systems analysis, maintenance, instructional, and supervisory experience is required. A valid High School diploma or GED with formal military service training and seven to nine years of related systems analysis, maintenance, and training experience may be substituted in lieu of the degree requirement.
- US Citizen with the ability to obtain & maintain a DoD Secret clearance is required. Candidate selected will be subject to a Government background investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to classified information and/or facilities.
- Previous experience as a Mk 41 System/Tomahawk technician familiar with hot launch/cold launch methods, including exhaust piping and ejection mechanisms on board surface combatant ships to include guided missile destroyers and cruisers; participation in exercises and overseas deployments, with in-depth experience troubleshooting and executing critical technical assistance during firing evolutions. Experience with associated test equipment to include Radio Frequency (RF) Generators, Multi-Meters, Oscilloscopes, etc. is also required.
- Previous military experience with older launching systems such as the Mk-13 and Mk-26 launchers; technical knowledge of the ‘projected’ advanced Mk-57 System; and Previous U.S. Navy Instructor and/or Master Training Specialist (MTS), service in combat deployment watch stations to include the Combat System Controller (CSC) and the Combat Systems Officer of the Watch (CSOOW); and advanced electronic training and repair skills on a wide variety of electronic and waveform generation equipment is highly desired.
