Role:
The Manager for SharePoint will lead a team of developers to build and maintain various portals and micro-sites that includes key functionality for our Call Center representatives. This Manager is empowered to establish and implement standards and practices to ensure the highest degree of software quality and will work with application development management and staff to ensure adequate, proactive involvement of application development staff with software development teams. The Application Development Manager for SharePoint works to deliver project results and value to the business and its clients and demonstrates knowledge of all phases of software development life cycle, This position reports to a Senior Manager or Director and typically has between 3 and 5 years of management experience, including project and people management.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for taking a project through the entire SDLC. Manage projects according to the project management methodology, planning tasks, controlling resources and monitoring progress, in order to effectively complete assigned projects within defined time-lines, budget controls and quality standards
Participate in the development of business cases and project estimates.
Ensure project teams are staffed with appropriate resources at the time of inception.
Ensure the Application Development staff is engaged throughout software development life-cycle
Own the technical aspects of project. Identify and escalate potential concerns related to project initiatives and recommend viable solutions
Oversee the execution of multiple projects in a simultaneous environment ensuring deadlines are being met
Establish guidelines, monitor, and report of metrics and milestones for agile projects.
Work with Architecture, Engineering, QA & Architecture teams to ensure application designs conform to accepted standards.
Oversee the support and development activities related to the development of one or more internal systems
Partner with QA, Architecture, Engineering and Project Management groups on all development activities
Oversee and set the direction for the organization, ensuring a reliable software with minimal bugs
Establish and track metrics related to key performance objectives and service levels
Oversee the implementation of process and procedural improvements
Develop, implement and enforce best practices and operating standards
Ensure compliance with established industry rules, regulations TD Ameritrade policies/procedures and best practices
Strategize, design, communicate and implement technical solutions for SharePoint and other collaborative platforms within the organization.
Supervise the design and development of data and application integrations between departmental and firm-wide data sources and applications. Experience with application/development integration
Research and review best practices and methods in regards to Enterprise Application Integration (EAI)
Must come from a technical background even though this role will not be hands on technical. Will occasionally function as an Architect that can work with all the internal IT teams and business partners to stay on top of their requirements and deliver the desired outcome.
Must have "real systems" experience.
Deliver presentations at meetings and other functions, as required. Evaluate developer performance on a quarterly and annual basis. Recommend bonus and merit amounts as well as training where required.
Forecasting resourcing & staffing needs and effectively utilizing all available resources.
Requirements:
Three plus years of implementing or managing SharePoint (2007, WSS 3.0) implementations required
Knowledge and experience working with SharePoint Index/Search Services
Experience with enterprise search products (FAST Search) is a big plus
Experience in Agile development methodologies to collaborate directly with scrum teams to coach and guide them to achieve optimal team effectiveness
Scrum master certification is a plus
4 year college Degree preferably in Computer Science or related field
