Under the general supervision of the Web Services team leader and in coordination with other Health Sciences technical resources, provides assistance in, and at times is responsible for, the development and maintenance of the internet/intranet environment for Health Sciences.
Helps develop applications that can integrate with SharePoint sites and/or link to external data sources via XML or UCSD data warehouse feeds with ASP.Net.
Applies a strong understanding of Windows SharePoint Services, Microsoft Office SharePoint Server and related technologies in the Microsoft stack.
With minimal direction from the team leader, takes requests that come in to the Health Sciences team, and sees them through to completion.
These requests can range from simple changes to a web page and creation of a web application with a backend DB to providing assistance and guidance to help departments fulfill their web development needs.
With minimal direction from the team leader, assists in maintaining current systems, managing upgrades/releases, monitoring system availability and performance and help perform upgrades when needed.
Two (2) or more years Web development experience using ASP.Net, HTML, and CSS.
Bachelors of Science degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
Understanding of SQL and knowledge of relational database concepts, including writing Stored Procedures, Triggers, etc.
Experience using Visual Studio.NET, FrontPage and/or SharePoint Designer.
Experience with the full web application life cycle from requirements through deployment.
Experience with architecture and development of multi-tier distributed applications.
Knowledge of Web design standards & issues.
Must be available to work holidays, weekends, days, evenings, nights, overtime, and
May have possible exposure to biological, chemical, and radioactive hazards.
Have excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
Possess the personal characteristics of professionalism, credibility, commitment to high standards, innovation, discriminating judgment and accountability.
Experience woth Windows Servers, MS IIS and MS SQL Server.
Working knowledge of Microsoft's SharePoint Portal MOSS 2007 or 2010.
Experience with server side scripting languages such as Perl and Java.
