DESCRIPTION

New position required to support core EV and HEV design capability

DUTIES

Specific Duties to be performed: Responsible for the delivery of Electric & Hybrid technology in support of the product cycle plan, including electric drive technology, electric machines, system engineering, battery, power supply, EDS and control system technologies.* Determining functional requirements and system design, incorporating motor, pcm, battery, BMS, DC-DC, charging, * FMEA creation and management * Completion of automotive DFMEA and DVP&R for system-level validation * Develop a high voltage system and charging roadmap to establish requirements for high voltage, high power drive train, energy storage system, charging systems and associated power electronics, connection technologies and infrastructure requirements. * Define and establish high voltage standards including safety, EHC, hardware and software to support the strategy * Technical leadership of activities concerning charging and associated power electronics * 'Decoding' of environmental directives. * Build collaborations with key technology and grid partners, * Identify and evaluate the direction taken by competitors in the sector. * Meet the project virtual series gateway requirements of releasing and freezing geometrical designs * Work closely with the Vehicle Packaging and functional component areas to ensure component feasibility as well as ensuring all interfacing part owners buy into any changes * Testing and validation of proposed designs. * Liaising with supply chain to support supplier selection and product development

QUALIFICATIONS

Education Required: * Degree educated preferably in electronics - further postgraduate qualifications in business management an advantage Previous Experience Required: * Electrical or Hybrid vehicle (EVHEV) HV systems * High power electrical/electronic engineering and controls * High power Lithium Ion Batteries * HV systems architecture specification and design * Vehicle packaging and sound understanding of mechanical engineering principles * ISO26262 Background: * Deep knowledge of the principles and application of power electronics and high voltage charging hardware/systems required to interface between the vehicle and the grid. * Experience in writing technical standards for EV systems and charging hardware * Proven track record in developing hybrid and BEVs including the charging systems * Able to develop attribute and system level strategies and is familiar with interface systems and influences (e.g. ESS, Telematics, powertrain), * A detailed understanding of current economic, technological, legislative and political factors that are driving change requiring the need for the introduction of electric drivetrain technologies and be able to interpret these factors to create a business and technical charging strategy that delivers a competitive edge for the company * In-depth knowledge of design and regulatory standards and processes regarding to HV charging. * Has worked in or with a major OEM or possibly an automotive engineering service provider * Minimum 5 years' experience in all aspects of production and prototype EV/hybrid technology and product development and release. * Experience of implementing EV/hybrid solutions in a NPI/NPD (new product introduction / new product development) environment. Preferred: * Proficient in general computer skills including MS Word, Excel, MS Project, PowerPoint, etc. and utilization to create reports. * Program Management skills a plus. * Personal interest in cars and / or motor sports a plus. * Strong organizational skills.
