We are seeking an experienced Digital Data Champion, to support our Digital and Cross Platform Analytics department’s business initiatives, with analysis of enterprise digital media data across our multiple platforms; including set top boxes, computers, tablets and smartphones, which support our websites and Apps. In this role, you will have the opportunity to partner with DirecTV's Senior Executive teams, to work on exciting and innovative corporate initiatives that are extremely important to the company's strategic long term growth plans around streaming technology and Digital Media. Success will be accomplished by understanding how data is and will be captured, how data is defined within Omniture, creating and supporting the business’s data requirements; plus design the data reports to extract relevant digital data to merge across these multiple platforms. You will provide on-going support of the BI information infrastructure to drive strategic business projects as you make the connections between the data and overall business needs.

  • Partner with Business Units to understand Business Initiatives; translate to BI Goals/Tasks
  • Consult with the Business Units on the application of BI Technology; initiatives/programs
  • Understand the Business Unit’s future direction to proactively respond to information needs
  • Translate the Business needs into functional BI requirements to assist design/development
  • Work closely with designers/developers to assure requirements are met
  • Provide leadership to medium to large project teams to drive results
  • Support the Business Units by researching request tickets assigned to BI
  • Provide testing analysis by reconciling the source systems with BI solutions/Business Requirements
  • Act as a liaison with IT Architecture/Design/Development on changes that impact BI solutions to provide analysis as needed to assist the Business, in understanding the data in order to make well informed decisions

  • BA/BS in Management Information Systems (or equivalent Business degree)
  • 10+ years’ experience in Business Intelligence area
  • Experience using Business Intelligence tools (such as Cognos; Oracle Business Intelligence Enterprise Edition Plus; Omniture)
  • Strong knowledge of SQL with relational databases (such as Teradata; Oracle; MS SQL Server)
  • Strong knowledge of and experience with digital entertainment platforms and delivery capabilities (iOS and Android apps, as well as delivery websites along the lines of Netflix and Hulu)
  • Strong knowledge with Microsoft Office software
  • Excellent oral/written skills
  • Experience with Project Management methodology
  • Experience using data warehouse/analytical tools for business purposes
  • Strong knowledge of Business core processes/data required to drive those processes
  • Strong understanding of source data (its strengths/weaknesses/semantics/formats)
  • Ability to work with/effectively communicate with people at all levels of the enterprise from Executives to developer
  • Flexibility/diplomacy/problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal/communications skills
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements
Ability to effectively work independently/motivated; possess analytical skills; ability to handle multiple priorities

  • Experience with key data warehousing processes
  • Experience with Marketing Data providers such as Experian and Acxiom
  • Experience with Advertising Sales functionality including audience measurement systems
