The mission of this job is to provide knowledgeable and responsive technical support for our enterprise customers, while collaborating effectively as a trusted member of a driven, innovative team. This position is based in our Portland, Oregon headquarters and the hours will be between 4:00pm and 12:00am.

As a Technical Support Engineer, you will:
  • Track and resolve customer questions and issues by phone and email
  • Work with the systems engineering and sales account teams to drive the success of customer evaluations
  • Identify and communicate feature requests to systems engineering and product management
  • Develop customer-facing documentation and videos for our customer portal
  • Collaborate with QA and technical marketing to replicate real-world workflows and run performance tests
  • Use help desk software to manage issues and recommend changes to improve the effectiveness of help desk procedures
The successful implementation of this position requires, at a minimum:
  • Strong communication skills
  • Comfort with phone support and escalation procedures
  • 3 years of experience with Linux operating systems, particularly with networking and systems integration
  • Knowledge of compressed and uncompressed digital video and audio standards, especially around H.264 and MPEG-2 technologies
  • Basic familiarity with at least one Linux-based scripting language (e.g. Perl, Ruby, Bash, Python)
Additional strengths include experience with:
  • Linux CentOS or RedHat
  • Zendesk, Salesforce, or Trac
  • RESTful web API
  • Adaptive streaming technologies (Adobe Flash, Apple HLS, Microsoft Smooth Streaming)
  • Visio or other workflow diagram tool
