Brief Posting Description
The candidate will be responsible for providing regional geologic interpretations of various plays throughout the Williston Basin region. The candidate will integrate with the geophysicists, petrophysicists and engineers working on the team to enhance evaluations. The candidate will have the ability to integrate subsurface information, including geological, petrophysical, geochemical, and production to build a basin model and hi-grade areas within play fairways.
Detailed Description
Collecting and integrating data of differing types and scales to build an understanding of basin history, develop play analysis and resource assessment maps
Develop regional, multi-county stratigraphic framework and subsurface correlations
Generate and update maps, logs, cross-sections and corporate databases with new tops, correlations, shows and other pertinent geological data
Create, generate, manage and present sound, high-quality geologic interpretations and new acreage and drilling opportunities to Sr. Management
Prepare play geoscience analysis including, integration of log data, geophysical data, rock property information, land data, well performance and other pertinent data
Successful track record of prospect generation and finding hydrocarbons
Coordinate well logging and coring activities
Mentor to other Geologists, Interns and Technicians
Able to work in multi-disciplinary team (Geophysics, Reservoir, Engineering and Land)
Understanding of play analysis, reserves analysis, economics and risk assessment. Capacity to weigh all factors and identify risks
Experience in horizontal drilling and well operations
Extensive experience in log analysis
Strategic thinker with ability to introduce innovative and sound solutions adding the most value to the company
Ability to communicate technical data through the preparation and presentation of clear, concise and persuasive oral/written opinions, reports and presentations
Extremely organized individual with the capacity to plan, prioritize and complete multiple projects concurrently
Team oriented individual with the ability to integrate with others while maintaining a positive and productive work environment
Job Requirements
A Bachelor's degree in Geology is required: Master's degree preferred
Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Geologist
Understanding of Williston Basin reservoirs preferred
Geographix or Petra and IHS/Drilling Info
Some travel to field operations or other business unit offices may be required
Normal office environment
