Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH ) Pharmacist provides complete pharmacy service to the VTH and other College of Veterinary Medicine (PVM ) departments, including acquisition of pharmaceuticals and pharmacy-related items, dispensing medications, including labeling and compounding, and may serve as a consultant to students, faculty and outside veterinarians for drug-related questions. The VTH Pharmacist follows established pharmacy operating procedures providing service to the Small and Large Animal Hospitals.
This represents a part-time position with a shift rotation. Required:
Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy.
Currently licensed as a Pharmacist in Indiana or be eligible for Indiana licensure.
Three years of experience working as a pharmacist.
Familiarity with all professional and commercial phases of pharmacy, including knowledge of pharmaceutical calculations and compounding techniques especially in the areas of ointments, capsules and suspensions.
Ability to use initiative to learn dosages of medicine as they pertain to veterinary medicine and willingness to research and compound doses necessary to treat all sizes and species of patients.
Possess good oral and written communication skills/able to read/write English.
Capable of working under pressure to meet stringent time constraints.
Decision making ability including discretion and independent judgment.
Hospital Pharmacy and cleanroom experience.
Working knowledge of drug distribution systems as they pertain to a hospital environment.
Computer proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook-email, internet, and pharmacy systems.
This represents a part-time position working a shift rotation: three days one week, two days the following week. 40 hours is worked between the two weeks.
Will share Sunday and Holiday on-call schedule with other staff pharmacists.
A background check is required for employment in this position.
FLSA: Exempt (Not Eligible For Overtime).
Retirement Eligibility: Defined Contributions Immediately.
