JOB SUMMARY:
This position is responsible for organizing and performing the necessary work related to the care of and pet waste management studies with the cats under general supervision. This is a temporary position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Knowledge of and compliance with the Animal Welfare Act and all procedures and protocols in the Nestly Purina R&D Petcare Manual
2. Adherence to Nestly Quality Management Systems (QMS) and Good Laboratory Practices (GLP)
3. Perform pet waste management trials according to the protocol submitted in the request
4. Collect and process pet waste (urine and feces)
5. Accurately record data as outlined by the requesting project scientist
6. Perform grooming as necessary
7. Obtain animal body weights as required
8. Provide socialization programs for pets
9. Report to the veterinarian sick or unusual behavior observed in the pets
10. Report to the Manager any broken or damaged equipment, item or physical area
11. Perform all necessary cleaning and sanitation duties
12. Maintain a safe, clean and sanitary work environment
13. Organize incoming material for trials
14. Assist with minor vet procedures (e.g. blood or urine collection, vaccinations, etc.)
15. Practice safety in the work area

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
' Actively participate in training and skill development as needed
' Additional duties as assigned

SUPERVISION GIVEN AND RECEIVED:
' General supervision received from the Supervisor; pet waste management study supervision received from scientists

JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience, and Knowledge):
' High School Diploma (or GED)
' Minimum 1 year of animal handling experience or BS degree in Animal Science/Zoology or related field
' Ability to work well independently and in a team
' Good interpersonal, communication, organization, and math skills
' Computer literacy

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS PREFERED BUT NOT REQUIRED:
' Advanced training or experience in animal science, veterinary technology, or animal handling, grooming, or behavior
