FMH/DC is a JCAHO-accredited facility with 152 licensed beds and, on average, a 1-5 nurse-to-patient ratio. The Forensic Nurse Examiner (FNE) provides an objective medical and legal evaluation for all patients experiencing violence. The FNE provides and meets International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) Standards of Nursing Practice concerning forensic examination. While assessing patient health problems and resources, that nurse takes a leadership role in the development, implementation, and outcome evaluation of a plan of care for victims of violence. The FNE provides technical nursing care and nursing interventions to designated patient populations. The FNE is responsible for upholding the International Forensic Nursing Scope of Practice. *This position requires a passing score on FMH pharmacology test; completion of a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner Training Program which meets International Association of Forensic Nurses Education Standards; successful completion of the Fairbanks Memorial Hospital preceptorship for Forensic Nurse Examiners; FNAA and IAFN professional memberships. * 2 years of acute care experience preferred
