Job Description:
POSITION PURPOSE
The Systems Administrator will be the full-time
technical lead for the support and management of all
Westwood Denver North Campus computing resources. This
position will have primary responsibility for the Campus
server environments and applications. This position will
assist with technical project task planning and
technical coordination of vendors, contractors and other
infrastructure team members. The main responsibility of
this position will be the configuration and maintenance
of the Campus technical environments and additional
infrastructure support as required.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide primary support for Campus server
environments, applications and technical
implementations
  • Manage disaster recovery services for Campus
servers, including backup and restore procedures
  • Manage VMware ESX server environment and provision
virtual machines as necessary
  • Maintain CosmoCom and CommView server hardware and
operating systems to ensure proper operation of
application environments
  • Monitor and maintain the student email system
  • Maintain Active Directory for the Campus
organizational units; manage users groups and
servers as appropriate
  • Maintain login scripts and group policies as
required to ensure appropriate use of shared
resources
  • Maintain DNS and DHCP services to ensure appropriate
performance of the network and phone systems
  • Manage campus antivirus servers to ensure proper
operation and verify latest updates are being
received; ensure all clients are joined to antivirus
groups.
  • Scan server application, security and system event
logs on to provide proactive problem resolution
  • Ensure that ITS policies and procedures are
appropriately applied and adhered to
  • Work with Campus faculty and staff to provide
internet facing solutions to enhance the learning
experience for students
  • Manage Macromedia Communication server to ensure
optimal audio and video streaming performance
  • Create and maintain Redhat and Suse Linux servers
for Campus faculty and students
  • Monitor, maintain, and report on availability for
student facing systems to ensure 99.9% uptime
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Excellent customer service and problem solving
skills
  • Understanding and ability to manage network
switching, VLAN and routing technologies
  • Proven track record of participating on a technical
team
  • College degree (BS, BA) in Computer Science or
equivalent work experience
  • Minimum 2 years Microsoft 2003 server, Exchange
2003, VMware ESX server
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work with other teams and disciplines
