This part time position facilitates service delivery to clients in the health department WIC program and/or other direct service work units within the district, by interpreting Spanish/English language to staff and clients and assisting participants in filling out program forms. Duties will include assisting with routine clerical activities when not needed for above responsibilities. These duties may include assisting at front desk, answering phones-making appointments and returning calls, arranging services outside the department, filing, and identifying other social or financial service providers to contact to assist participants.
Fluent in reading, writing and speaking Spanish and English in a health care setting. High school diploma, GED or relevent experience/training. Good interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Works well with persons of diverse cultural backgrounds and lifestyles. Ability to work independently to deliver services with minimal supervision. Good computer skills.
Prefer previous training as an interpreter - Certified interpreter. Prefer prior experience in health care setting
This position will be based out of the Williamsburg WIC office, but may be assigned to perform duties/ responsibilities in any of our four WIC Offices as needed by the district. Certified medical interpreter or willing to complete and pass certification.
Employment is conditional on successful results of a background investigation. A pre-appointment criminal record check and background investigation is required of the chosen applicant
