The Department of Management at Appalachian State University (ASU) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in strategic management at the rank of assistant or associate beginning August 2011. The salary and rank will be commensurate with qualifications.
The faculty member's primary responsibilities will be to provide excellent instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels, maintain an active program of scholarship, and participate in service activities consistent with the rank of appointment. Instructional duties may include on-line instruction and/or instruction at off-campus sites. Necessary qualifications include: (1) PhD preferred or ABD with evidence that defense of dissertation is formally scheduled and that degree will be completed prior to appointment, (2) demonstrated accomplishments in teaching and research, and (3) enthusiasm for working with and mentoring students.
Appalachian State University is a member institution of the sixteen-campus University of North Carolina system and is located in Boone, North Carolina in the Blue Ridge Mountains. ASU has approximately 16,000 students, primarily in bachelors and masters programs in liberal arts and applied fields, and has both a traditional residential campus and distance education programs. The Walker College of Business is AACSB International accredited and is included in Princeton Review's edition of Best Business Schools. The college has more than 2,200 students enrolled in undergraduate programs. The Department of Management offers the undergraduate degrees in Management (with concentrations in general management, entrepreneurship, and human resource management) and Hospitality and Tourism Management. The faculty member will join twenty-two colleagues in the department.
