Position: Marketing & Communications Manager

Reports To: Chief Operations Officer

Status: Full-Time Regular, Exempt

BACKGROUND: The Indian Health Center of Santa Clara Valley is a 501(c)3, nonprofit, community health clinic, located in San Jose, California. We serve people from all walks of life, regardless of race, creed, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation or disability and take pride in serving our diverse patients and clients. Besides having a highly talented medical and dental department, the Indian Health Center also has an outstanding counseling department, community wellness center and WIC (Women Infants and Children) department.

Position Summary: The Marking & Communications Manager will be responsible for managing overall communications and marketing strategies for the Agency. This individual writes content for agency's marketing materials including website, social marketing, annual report, newsletters, etc. Builds effective relationships with various media markets.

Duties & Responsibilities:
·
Implement and evaluate the overall communications plan and core messages across target audiences to ensure organizational consistency
·Facilitate internal and external communications and all agency marketing, communications and public relations activities and materials including publications, media relations, etc.
·Assure consistent communication of agency's image and position throughout the agency and to all constituencies, both internal and external
·Responsible for design, production and distribution of all agency publications
·Coordinate media interest in the agency
·Leverage social media to increase the organizational awareness
·Lead the generation of online content that engages audience segments and leads to measurable action. Decides who, where and when to disseminate
·Serve as editor for the organization's website to ensure that new and consistent information is posted regularly
·Coordinate the appearance of all agency print and electronic materials such as letterhead, use of logo, brochures, etc.
·Coordinate and monitor systems and procedures necessary to the smooth operation of the marketing/communications/public relations function
·Coordinate policies to ensure the integrity of the agency's marketing efforts
·Perform other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications, Knowledge & Abilities:
·
Bachelor's degree in journalism, marketing, communications, or public relations required
·Minimum of 3-5 years experience in marketing, communications or public relations with demonstrated success, preferably in the non-profit sector
·Demonstrated skills, knowledge and experience in graphic design and execution of marketing, communications and public relations activities
·Experience overseeing the design and production of both web and print materials and publications
·Must know HTML, Java Script, PHP, and Adobe CS Master Suite
·Demonstrated computer literacy with databases and knowledge of Windows environment and popular software (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Excel, Access, Publisher, Photoshop, etc.)
·Strong creative, strategic, analytical, organizational and personal sales skills
·Sincere commitment to working collaboratively with shared leadership and in cross-functional teams
·Strong oral and written communications skills
·Ability to manage multiple projects at a time
·Experience with project management, including skills in project coordination and reporting
·Carries out all responsibilities in an honest, ethical and professional manner, and demonstrates good judgment
·Strong customer service skills and result oriented
·Knowledge of and ability to work with the American Indian/Alaska Native community and other minority populations
·Possession of a valid California Driver License, automobile insurance, and a clean driving record
Physical Requirements:
·Ability to sit, stand and walk for extensive periods of time
·Manual and finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination sufficient to accomplish the duties associated with your job description
·Ability to lift up to 35 pounds
·Ability to stoop, squat, or bend frequently
·Corrected vision and hearing within normal range to observe and communicate with patients and professional staff
Working Conditions:

Exposure to all patient elements, including communicable disease and blood borne pathogens. Will be working in a fast paced environment. Will need to be able to sit for extended periods of time answering and responding to phone calls. Office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Will need to be flexible in performing tasks with limited discretion in making judgment decisions.
