SEEKING VETERINARIAN WHO WANTS TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN REDUCING DOG AND CAT OVERPOPULATION IN CARIBBEAN ISLAND COMMUNITIESThe position requires an experienced, motivated high volume-high quality spay/neuter surgeon with excellent skills in shelter veterinary medicine. The ideal candidate is a mission-driven veterinarian that is adaptable to care for companion animals with the possibility of local wildlife and large animals for multiple programs at more than one island paradise location. Full-time employment is allocated between three programs on two U.S. Virgin Islands: St. Croix:
•St. Croix Animal Welfare Center ( A veterinarian is needed perform high volume spay/neuter surgeries as part of a free community program provided to residents largely on a fully outfitted mobile spay/neuter van.St. Thomas:
•Humane Society of St. Thomas ( A veterinarian is needed to setup and stock a veterinary suite in the new HSSTT campus, manage support staff, provide medical oversight of all companion and other animals relinquished to HSSTT, perform spay/neuter for all adopted animals, and act as a liaison to the community, law enforcement, and local veterinarians.
•Lucky Paws Foundation of St. Thomas ( A veterinarian is needed perform preventive and acute medical activities for free-roaming, feral, and owned companion animals, with a focus on high volume spay/neuter performed at HSSTT.Must complete a three-month orientation probationary period. Must be willing to work a rotating schedule that may include weekends and holidays, effectively utilizing time management. Travel will be facilitated to support work on multiple islands.
