The Medical Technologist Senior will perform the duties of a technical specialist in the Laboratory. Technically, responsible for clinical
testing and results reporting in all areas where training and verification of competency are attained. The Medical Technologist Senior
will assist the supervisor in the coordination of quality control procedures; trouble shooting; maintenance of procedure manuals;
training and documentation; method evaluations and inventory control in his/her primary areas of responsibility. The Medical
Technologist Senior consistently demonstrates excellent written and verbal communication skills. The Medical Technologist Senior
demonstrates a strong and energetic commitment to the laboratory’s mission of efficiency and quality. The Medical Technologist Senior
consistently acts as a positive role model for peers and other coworkers.
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for Hire
C ertified as a Medical Technologist or Medical Laboratory Scientist by the American Society for C linical Pathology or C LS by the
National C redentialing Agency or equivalent ASC P categorical certification*
Unless grandfathered under previous requirements or Ph.D. or foreign trained MD
C ertification required within 18 months of promotion or hired into position
Licensure, Certification, or Registration Requirements for continued employment including CPR, etc
C urrent MT (ASC P) or MLS (ASC P) or C LS (NC A) or equivalent categorical certification*
Unless grandfathered under previous requirements or Ph.D. or foreign trained MD
C ertification required within 18 months of promotion or hired into position
Level and type of experience REQUIRED
Minimum of 3 years of clinical work experience as a Medical Technologist. Depending on the laboratory assignment, work experience
requirement may be specific to a particular specialty areas such as Microbiology, Immunology, Molecular Biology, Transfusion Medicine,
C linical C hemistry, Toxicology, etc.

Assumes responsibilities of the supervisor in his/her absence (weekends, holidays, etc.) as directed or required.
Additional position requirements such as shift rotations, weekends, environment, etc
Rotating weekends, averaging 1 weekend per month
Availability, approximating 3-4 weeks per year, for emergency coverage or “on-call” on evening and night shifts
