Crop Inputs Farm Marketer Trainee
This position is part of Cargill's AgHorizons business unit, which serves farm customers in the United States by providing products and services including grain origination and storage, grain marketing resources and advice, crop input products such as seed and fertilizer, agronomic advice and information services.
As a Crop Inputs Farm Marketer Trainee, you will participate in a sales training program to prepare you to become a specialist in the sales of crop inputs products and services that include, crop nutrition products, crop protection products, seed, seed traits and seed treatments, NextField™ System precision ag services and other related services. To accomplish this you will be responsible for developing long-term relationships with identified customers, and working face to face with grain producers on the farm. You will learn how to help farmers prosper and maximize their return by utilizing Cargill's full range of crop inputs products, services, and resources. Through your relationship with the producer and our expertise, you will help to solve customer problems and create new opportunities.
Fully understand and actively participate in the planning and execution of the Farm Service Group strategy, business plans, sales and marketing efforts - in particular, the process of defining and developing relationships with targeted customers and prospects.
In partnership with Farm Marketers, the Sales Manager and other customer solution specialists, you will maintain contact with customers to understand their needs so that you can position Cargill crop inputs products and services in an effort to help them grow a better more profitable crop.
Learn about producers cropping needs through detailed needs assessments, time on the farm evaluating producer's crops, and evaluation of yield and soil data.
Collaborate with the Sales Manager, Agronomy Leaders, and support personnel to develop new offers that meet unmet producer needs.
Constantly work to advance the technical understanding of crop inputs products and their benefits to the producer customer.
Constantly work to enhance sales skill.

Plant or office setting.
Various U.S. locations throughout the Midwest.
Movement from a trainee role to an experienced sales position may require additional relocation.
Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree from an accredited program with a major in Agricultural Business, Plant Science, Soil Science, Agronomy or similar agricultural discipline graduating by Summer 2013.
Ability to relocate to various locations throughout the Midwest.
Must be willing to relocate within the U.S.
Right to work in the U.S. that is not based solely on possession of a student visa or a visa sponsored by a third-party employer.
Previous intern or co-op experience.
Overall 3.0 GPA preferred.
Demonstrated ability to solve problems and make decisions independently.
Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, with ability to influence decision-making.
Demonstrated leadership skills and experience.
