We are seeking a highly motivated individual to support
histology activities in the Histology Laboratory of the Pathology Labs Department. Responsibilities of this position include
accurately performing all routine and specialized procedures in the Histology
Lab under the direct supervision of the Histology Supervisor. This will also include supporting all
activities that will generate a minimum of 2,000 slides per month. Attention to
detail is critical as is the ability to handle multiple projects at any given
time. Candidate will ensure that all study schedules are met and performed in a
timely manner. Once training has been completed, the work schedule will be Mondays
– Fridays and will include Saturday on-call rotations.
Performs basic histology
Paraffin sections - processing/embedding/sectioning/staining
and quality control of work
Performs specialized techniques
Tissue Micro Array (TMA)
construction and sectioning
Plastics (GMA and MMA)
A BS degree in the life sciences is required. Certification
as a histotechnician, HT (ASCP) or histotechnologist, HTL (ASCP), with 3-5
years of relevant experience is required.
Must have demonstrated experience with the following: tissue
trimming/processing/embedding, paraffin sectioning, cryotomy, special stains,
immunohistochemistry, TMA construction/sectioning, GMA and MMA
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work
effectively with a diverse group of people are essential. Must be able to follow verbal and written
instructions and have excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. Candidate must also be able to work
independently with minimal supervision.
Basic computer skills (Word and Excel) are required. The candidate must be able to lift at least
