Summary
Commercialize new and existing Mack Brand products to the market. Lead Product Commercial Teams in developing processes and strategies that result in the implementation of marketing activities to achieve profitability and market share objectives for the Mack Brand. Responsible for planning and execution of commercial activities throughout the product lifecycle, including but not necessarily limited to: gathering and prioritizing product and customer requirements; defining the product vision; and working closely with engineering, sales, marketing, product portfolio management, and support functions to ensure revenue and customer satisfaction goals are met. Ensures the product supports the company’s overall strategy and goals. Optimization of the commercialization process is an on-going objective.

This position reports directly to the VP Marketing and also submits commercial strategies to the Program Directors of Group Trucks Technology.

Main Activities and Responsibilities
  • Represent Sales and Marketing on Project Teams and serve aas the marketing liaison to North America’s Product Management function and Volvo Group Trucks Technology
  • Communicate the voice of the customer and protect Mack brand features and identity so that developed products meet dealer and customer expectations in key areas such as, but not necessarily limited to, cost, price, weight, and option/feature content
  • Be an expert with respect to the competition within construction application segments, the competitive commercial offer, and related competitive intelligence
  • Develop a deep understanding of customers and needs of customers within relative market segments
  • Identify, propose and champion, cross functionally, the product offer and services needed to maintain Mack strength in key segments
  • Analyze market research data, Polk registration data, industry trends and other relevant inputs to identify market needs, product opportunities and to initiate activities to achieve market and product needs via the PMR process or best way
  • Identify, propose and champion, cross functionally, the product offer and services needed to expand Mack into new segments and improve Mack position in current core segments
  • Develop collateral and sales tools to support commercial effort in key segments
  • Brief and train the sales force at sales meetings and other venues
  • Provide liaison support for field sales representatives and customers relative to product offer and needs
  • Brief press and analysts and support press tours
  • Act as leader to key trade organizations, associations, body upfitters, and key suppliers, building rapport and business relationships along the way
  • Lead the launch of new Mack product into the marketplace
  • Direct activities between various departments to deliver the product launch on time, complete and within budget
  • Lead various cross-functional Commercialization Teams
  • Control and direct the expenditure of the commercial budget per project on new product launches
  • Identify the brand value proposition and create a value selling argumentation, then communicate the proposition to the Sales group and to the general company
  • Spec and order all show vehicles and/or coordinate with customers, dealers, and upfitters to secure appropriate products for trade shows and events as required.
  • Manage the product display and supervise booth personnel during the appropriate trucking industry trade shows
  • Create the pre-show presentations and workshops on the Mack brand products as required
  • Lead marketing special projects as directed by VP Marketing
