Serves as a Biologist performing duties to include the following:
- Provides a variety of assignments involving the application of a range of methods, procedures and techniques associated with biomedical research.
- Ensures instrumentation to be used is in working order and is properly calibrated.
- Calibrates and repairs various instruments in order to evaluate their use in the analysis of toxic and non-toxic substances.
- Analyzes results of experiments, compares results with previous studies, and identifies expected or unexpected results.
- Recommends re-running experiments or modifying the conditions as necessary.
- Responsible for developing and improving immobilized template and other transcription essays.
- Prepares authoritative reports and recommendations related to clinical trials of considerable breadth and diversity. Provides scientific advise and technical assistance to researchers from various public, private and /or non-profit health related agencies and organizations
- Responsible for training new employees and other scientists and technicians on complex techniques and instrumentation.
- Records data collected, analyses, protocol procedures, and other pertinent information in a format that is suitable for publication and future reference by other.
Basic Qualification Requirements:
Successful completion of requirements for a bachelors (or graduate) degree in a biological science, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to this position, from an accredited college or university.
A combination of experience (see additional requirements below), and education which includes courses comparable to a major in a biological science, agriculture, natural resource management, chemistry, or related disciplines appropriate to this position, AND I have appropriate experience or additional education which demonstrates similarly appropriate skills or abilities needed to perform the duties of this position
In addition to meeting the basic qualification requirements indicated above, you must meet the additional experience requirement as described below:
You must demonstrate in your resume at least (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector, performing the following types of tasks: independently developing, planning, and implementing tests; collecting, studying, developing, assembling, and/or analyzing factual scientific data; developing and preparing comprehensive reports, analytical interpretations, conclusions, or recommendations, typically for scientific publication; and calibrating and operating sophisticated laboratory instruments to conduct tests and analyses.
