About the Department
By "Caring for Systems that Care for People", BJC HealthCare Information Services (IS) is a key enabler of the mission, strategy and operating excellence that is associated with BJC HealthCare. Information Services is comprised of over 650 individuals working together to provide effective delivery of system development, implementation and support as well as strategic IT planning and analysis to BJC's Hospitals and Health Service Organizations.
Role Purpose
The Project Manager is responsible for utilizing project management processes and methodologies for the IT community to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, adhere to high quality standards and meet customer expectations.
Essential Responsibilities
Participates in managing client and supplier relationships. Participates in negotiations with suppliers to maximize value for BJC
Contributes to development and management of capital and operating budgets for their customers' suite of information systems
Responsible for assembling project plans and teamwork assignments, directing and monitoring work efforts on a daily basis, identifying resource needs, performing quality review; and escalating functional, quality, timeline issues appropriately
Tracks key project milestones and adjusts project plans and/or resource to meet the needs of customers
Develops detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status reports
Provides technical and anlytical guidance to team
Provide project management services for the IS portion of construction projects on the Academic Campus
Lead a team of two Project Coordinators to successfully deliver business objectives
Develop strong partnerships with PD&C, Hospital and IS leadership
Lead change and standardize processes
Apply appropriate financial planning and controls to the project to establish budget and meet financial objectives
Ensure project scope, budget and changes are consistently documented and in-sync
Confident leader who can prioritize and analyze tradeoffs, communicate clearly and effectively influence across organizational boundaries
Identify, assess, track and mitigate issues and risks across portfolio of projects
Strong organizational skills
Exceptional listening, problem solving, negotiation and facilitation skills
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED equivalent
Professional work experience - 5 years or more
Supervisory experience - 1 year or more
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree (Arts and Sciences or Business or Engineering and Applied Sciences or Health Related Field or Information Systems)
Professional work experience - 11 years or more
Supervisory experience - 3 years or more
PMP Certification
Budget development and management experience - 3 months or more
Contractual agreements/legal commitments experience - 3 months or more
Negotiate across level, teams and stakeholders experience - 3 months or more
Healthcare/clinical business management experience - 2 years or more
IT Project Management with direct and indirect management responsibility - 2 years or more
Formal Project Management tools/process methodologies - 2 years or more
Development of contractual requirements - 2 years or more
