To provide comprehensive Event Planning Services for all business units within Visa Inc. The candidate is responsible for managing a wide variety of event programs spanning multiple event disciplines from Meetings, Tradeshows, Board of Director Meetings, Hospitality Functions to Press / Analysts Meetings, Shareholder Meetings and other C-Level functions globally.
The position requires strong negotiating, analytical and people-managements skills, as well as solid budgeting and database knowledge in strategic event management software for event registration purposes.
-Manage, organize and coordinate Visa’s participation in tradeshows, seminars, meetings and special events. Typical meetings include staff meetings (small and large-scale), Client Meetings, Board Meetings and other Industry Trade events.
-Candidate will be highly involved with site selection, hotel negotiations, contracting, budgeting, program planning and development, vendor selection, research, registration, program implementation and onsite management.
-The candidate will act as a professional meeting planning consultant offering guidance, creative solutions and assistance to various Visa departments on all aspects of meetings management.
-Candidate must have a valid Driver’s License and must be able to facilitate local, domestics and international meeting programs, as required.
-Must possess in-depth knowledge of how events compliment a brand and understand how events align with the overall marketing & communications strategy of a global organization.
-This position may act as a resource to Visa’s regional offices as they adopt various meeting “best practices” as well as new processes and procedures initiated by HQ Corporate Events. This candidate will also support the Senior Meeting Planners on select programs requiring additional assistance, as needed.
-The candidate will manage individual budgets + / - 3% of target. Candidate may also assist in the development of methodology for tracking and reporting costs savings across all event program elements.
-Bachelor’s Degree (CMP or CMM accreditation preferred, not required)
-7 – 10 years Corporate Event Experience (Not for Profit background / expertise need not apply)
-Excellent communication and negotiating skills
-Sensor of humor, upbeat, positive demeanor
-Highly flexible – able to change course mid-stream
-Self-starter requiring little hand-holding
-Comfortable working independently
-Self-motivate and must have the ability to multi-task
-Must be able to assess and prioritize workload in a strict deadline-driven environment
-Job requires 20 – 25% travel, heavy overtime and weekend work, as necessary
-Must be customer-service oriented with a “can do” attitude
-The business is fluid and change must be managed constantly and with a high degree of professionalism
-Work product must be thorough and accurate – passionate commitment to quality - attention to detail and ability to problem solve are critical
-Must like working in a team environment. Planners will work together at times and will cover for each other when away from the office
-Candidate must be self-sufficient and handle own correspondence, filing and must follow all company policies
-Good working knowledge of online Event Management suite of tools including online registration and setting-up / managing web-based event programs
-Ability to remain focused on project objectives – remaining calm and in control throughout all phases of the event management cycle
