Description and Desired Qualifications

CH2M HILL Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE)Technician - Prudhoe Bay, Alaska

The challenge? Helping ensure the supply of our world's oil and gas. At CH2M HILL, we deliver solutions that span the entire breadth of the oil industry. Our HSE Technician job will provide you with the opportunity to work on exciting and large scale oil and gas projects in Alaska. Each day you will be responsible for supporting Operations and Maintenance, Construction and Engineering office and field projects in Alaska. You should be a self-motivated, detail oriented professional with at least 1 year of progressive work experience in the health and safety field with an Associates or Bachelors degree. OHST or CHST certifications preferred.

Our HSE Technicians :
Conduct audits of the project sites to verify compliance and identify unsafe conditions

Maintain documentation necessary to comply with the site safety management plan, OSHA, and other applicable regulations

Organize and conduct safety meetings and trainings

Assist with HSE Management program development

Provide technical support to accident investigations, event analysis and corrective action plans

Conduct field audits, observations and assessments for personnel and equipment and provide feedback to onsite and town management

Assist with production of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for specific job tasks

Attend and provide information at daily tool box meetings when supporting field projects

Conduct trending statistics for Hazard Recognitions, Near-misses and Injury Incidents

Assist with data entry and analysis for incidents and proactive measures
This job posting is based on ANTICIPATED work. Should we be the successful bidder, this job will become immediately available.

Additional Information : The position is located on the North Slope and requires a rotational work schedule (2 weeks on and 2 weeks off OR 3 weeks on and 2 weeks off). Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided, however transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. CH2M HILL will not sponsor an employment visa (e.g., H-1B visa, etc) to fill this position.

Contingencies:Any offer of employment will be contingent upon:
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the physical requirements (listed above) of this position via the successful completion of a Fitness for Duty Evaluation;
  • Negative results in a drug test
  • Attainment of a North Slope Training Certification (NSTC) via completion of modules
CH2M HILL will schedule and cover program costs for Fitness for Duty Evaluations, drug tests, and NSTC training for job candidates. Candidates will not be compensated for their personal time spent completing these programs or for costs of previously attending the NSTC training, drug test or FFD evaluation.
Basic Qualifications

3 year of progressive work experience in the health and safety field
A high school diploma or G.E.D.
Three year work experience with Office Suite programs (i.e. Word, Excel, & Outlook)
Valid driver's license and the ability to be insured for driving company vehicles (applicants must provide a five year DMV record at the time of application)
Preferred Qualifications

Associates or Bachelors degree in OSH (Strong Preference given to graduates of ABET accredited programs)'
At least one year progessive work experience in HSE
Knowledge of state and federal safety, industrial hygiene and OSHA regulations
Skill to manage one's own time and the time of others
Skill in prioritizing and executing tasks in a high pressure environment
Ability to develop, implement and perform detailed site health and safety audits
Ability to communicate information and ideas in speaking so others understand
