Work with Sales Tax Manager and staff to prepare and/or review sales & use tax and business license compliance for more than 35 states, liaise with field and credit personnel to determine taxable or exempt status of customers, products and services, coordinate related audits, support other departments, and conduct other accounting and
compliance as required.

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure timeliness and accuracy of sales tax returns and business license filings in numerous jurisdictions through preparation and/or review of returns and payment requests
  • Design, run, maintain and review necessary reports in Wynne (ERP), Vertex and Excel to ensure compliance obligations are met
  • Design, create and maintain supporting spreadsheets for compliance obligations and assigned projects
  • Maintain sales tax and business license files in accordance with department policies and procedures
  • Review high volume of sales tax exemption requests received from customers for validity, update
    Vertex TDM, communicate with customers and or taxing jurisdictions as required and file documents
  • Assist in educating field and credit personnel to help develop “front line” ability to reach correct taxability status decision
  • Conduct research as requested to current sales tax regulatory environment (with company provided research services) and implement necessary modifications and research issues as needed
  • Co-ordinate, gather data, evaluate, manage and successfully close sales tax audits (with manager assistance)
  • Analyze and reconcile sales tax accounts in the general ledger
  • Manage external and internal sales tax and business license inquiries
  • Assist as needed with special projects
  • Perform other duties and complete other projects as assigned by the manager

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • 5+ years sales and use tax experience in at least 25 states
  • 2+ years sales and use tax audit experience
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Word skills
  • Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Vertex Experience (Series L and Vertex Returns)
  • Sales Tax Research skills
