Maintains the cleaning of dishes, kitchen, food preparation equipment, utensils.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: This position summary should not be interpreted as all inclusive. It is intended to identify the essential functions and requirements of this position. The incumbents may be requested to perform job-related responsibilities and tasks other than those stated in this position summary.

Performs all duties in accordance with prescribed regulatory compliance guidelines as well as American Camp Association accreditation standards;

Maintain and follow all health regulations (i.e. washing of hands, keeping hair back, no open toed shoes, no tank tops);

Arrive 45 minutes before scheduled mealtime;

Remain on the job during meal times. No sitting down, eating or drinking during camper meal times or clean up times;

Keep a daily account of dishwasher temperature. Report any problems with equipment to the Dining Hall Supervisor;

Wash dishes, glassware, flatware, pots, and/or pans using dishwashers or by hand after each meal;

Place clean dishes, utensils, and cooking equipment in storage areas that are protected from dust and contamination between uses;

Clean dishwasher room area including walls and baseboards after each meal. Nothing is to be sitting on the floor;

Wipe down dining room wall by tray window after each meal and mop;

Maintain kitchen work areas, equipment, and utensils in clean and orderly condition;

Mop kitchen daily following evening meal; mop dish room following each meal;

Keep outside area trash clean. Hose off back dock at the end of each day;

After each meal empty the trash cans and reline. Wash out garbage cans with water weekly.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
Participate enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights and other all-camp activities and camp functions;

Sit with camper tables during meals and serve as a table monitor when needed;

Keep personal living quarters neat, clean and ready for inspection;
Be available to participate and assist with camp programs and activities as directed by the Camp Director.

Commercial use dishwashers
Kitchen Dishes and Utensils
Dish drainer
Mop
Broom
Soap dispensing brush

Required Experience:
Knowledge of cleaning practices, methods, and techniques;

Ability to wash dishes and kitchen appliances;

Ability to clean kitchen.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
Ability to communicate and work with groups participating (age and skill levels) and provide necessary instruction to campers and staff;

Ability to observe camper and staff behavior, assess its appropriateness, enforce appropriate safety regulations and emergency procedures, and apply appropriate behavior-management techniques;

Visual and auditory ability to identify and respond to environmental and other hazards related to the activity;

Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid. Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers;

Ability to meet attendance requirements;

Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Some physical requirements of the Dishwasher position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate dishwasher equipment and activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions.

Required Education:
Six months experience working in a kitchen preferred, OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
CPR and First Aid Certified

Compensation:
Salary - $175.00 per week
