The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking a Materials Scientist.
To perform materials and chemistry synthesis and characterization in support of programs in the Materials Research Section.
Duties (Listed in order of importance with the estimated amount of time spent at each task):
(1) Conduct research supporting ongoing Materials Research programs in the areas of self-assembly, nanotechnology, polymer chemistry, polymer physics, structural materials, biomaterials, and cell/material interactions. Tasks will include literature searching and working with the PI to develop research task plans, specimen preparation and characterization (microscopy, spectroscopy, etc.), trouble shooting, and analysis.
(2) (2) Write status reports and updates as required by the PI and sponsor. Give technical presentations and lab tours.
