Cargill Grain & Oilseed Supply Chain consists of 11 businesses that operate on an integrated global basis. We source, trade, process and distribute grain and oilseeds. The main bulk products handled are wheat, corn, oilseeds, barley and sorghum, as well as vegetable oils, meals and ethanol. This group works closely Cargill's ocean freight and logistics business. Cargill Grain & Oilseed Supply Chain employs 20,000 people in 46 countries. We operate 245 interior silos, 28 import/export elevators, 62 crush plants and palm oil plantations in Indonesia. It also encompasses three vegetable oil refineries and numerous joint ventures. Cargill Grain & Oilseed Supply Chain has developed significant expertise in handling identity-preserved and differentiated products that sustain their distinctiveness in overseas markets.
Position Overview:
This Position leads the Cargill Ag Supply Chain (CASC) Platform Project Management Center of Expertise (COE) and is responsible for developing Engineering, Construction Management, MRO Procurement policies and best practices. At any given time the Global Engineering Manager is responsible for 25-30 projects with a value ranging from $100,000 to $150 MM on a global basis.
Principal Accountabilities: Engineering: Provides leadership to developing engineering standards for the platform to ensure projects executed by all CASC Business Units meet safety, functional, reliability, budget and schedule goals for capital projects. Position also provides structural engineering support as requested to the corporation.
Construction Management: Leads development of construction management requirements and best practices to ensure all projects executed by BUs within the CASC platform meet corporate and regulatory requirements for construction projects.
MRO Procurement: Leads platform equipment standards development for plant equipment and capital project purchasing to ensure platform has a competitive advantage relating to the costs of constructing and operating grain facilities.
Reliability: Interacts closely with the Platform Reliability COE to ensure Project Management COE strategy and policies align with Reliability COE strategies.
Process Safety: Position must be familiar with NFPA or European standards as they relate to process safety and leads development of implementation strategy for implementation for the W/W Grain and Cotton businesses.
Talent Development: Will be responsible for creating and executing a talent development strategy for the BU with focus on project engineering.
This position reports functionally to the CASC World/ Wide Engineering Leader.
Qualifications
Required
BS Engineering, Civil (Structural) or Mechanical (with extensive bulk material handling experience
Minimum of 20 years working in engineering as a structural or mechanical engineer.
Minimum of 6 years working in a manufacturing environment
Registered Professional Engineer
Experience managing people
Experience developing business strategy
Experience with construction safety management, building codes and regulatory permit requirements
Understanding of Construction Contract Law
Skilled at Bid document preparation
Ability to travel up to 50%
Knowledgeable about the design of bulk material storage structures and bulk material handling equipment or related
