Post by Jobing - Emerging Technologies Librarian $46,945.60 – $49,337.60 Pinal CountyThis position is located in Florence, AZUnder general direction of the Director, incumbents will identify and promote the use of emerging and existing technologies, collaborating with other librarians to provide innovative library services designed to enrich the public library experience. Incumbents will take an active role in defining, planning, and implementing new services. Work with library colleagues to assess services and technologies and recommend, design, and implement new services. Serve as a consultant and advisor for web development, web 2.0 and 3.0 technologies, social networking, virtual worlds such as Second Life, gaming, podcasting, video, e–learning services, distance education, semantic web, and other current and future technologies.

Maintain current awareness of emerging and evolving ideas and technological tools for library and information management via research, professional literature, online resources, professional development activities and personal networking. Review and advise library management and staff of the possible use, likely impact and strategic value of relevant technological tools and ideas. Identify appropriate applications, test and evaluate their use, and recommend and promote the integration of technology into staff activities and public services. Provide leadership in library services related to technological applications including multimedia technologies. Teach library staff members how to use and integrate emerging technologies into public services. Provides technical support to affiliate libraries; generates reports for affiliate libraries; responds to system questions; assists with social media creation and implementation for affiliate libraries to provide to Pinal County residents; researches, reviews, tests, and evaluates the newest technologies; implements new web services; maintains library district website. Maintains absolute confidentiality of work–related issues, customer records and restricted County information; performs related duties as required or assigned.

Min Qualifications: Master's degree in Library Science from an American Library Association accredited institution and three years of professional librarian experience in a public library system; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.A valid Arizona State Driver's License is required.Preferred Qualifications: KNOWLEDGE OF: Library principles, practices, methods and materials. Library reference and collection resources. Modern office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers and computer applications such as word processing, spreadsheets, and statistical databases.

Trends and issues related to virtual library services, programs and collections (including but not limited to blogs, wikis, gaming, podcasting and RSS). Reference services and research methods. Online Integrated Library Systems. Web design and HTML.

Social networking tools and current technologies. MARC level cataloging.SKILL IN: Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other affiliate library staff, management, outside agencies, community groups and the general public. Keeps abreast of changing technology as it impacts library service. Conduct collection assessments and assist with collection development.

Search online databases. Develop training modules and workshops. Resolve cataloging and automated problems.
