Be part of our marine operations department at Coral World Ocean Park! We are seeking a friendly, motivated aquarist to join our staff. Our marine ops staff members fill a variety of roles within the park, which provides the opportunity to build a broad base of skills.

Responsibilities include:
  • Daily care and maintenance of the park’s animal collection including fish, rays, sharks, sea turtles and parrots among others
  • Conduct public talks and feeding demonstrations with the animals, including animal interaction programs
  • Collect specimens for aquatic exhibits and assist with designing new exhibits
  • Diet preparation
  • Maintain accurate records
  • Maintain exhibits and pools, including the use of SCUBA
  • Participate in special events and educational programs
  • Assist with the rescue and rehabilitation of marine creatures including sea turtles, shore birds, and other local wildlife
  • Work in a team environment and assist in all areas of the park, as needed

  • Minimum of 2 years experience in a professional aquarium or marine-related field
  • Must be physically fit, able to lift 50 lbs, and able to pass a swim test
  • Advanced SCUBA certification required, able to obtain Rescue Diver certification within 6 weeks of employment
  • Must be a team player, have a positive attitude, and an outgoing personality, with the ability to work well unsupervised
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marine Biology, Biology, or related field preferred
  • In an effort to further diversify our current team of aquarists, applicants with experience in shore birds or other avian experience and interests will be strongly preferred
  • Must be aware of the challenges of living on a Caribbean island (high cost of living, working in the sun and heat all day, etc.)
**This is a very physically demanding job requiring long periods of time working outdoors, daily exposure to sun, wind and saltwater, and diving and swimming daily.
