Chicago Tribune Media Group is seeking a Sr. Market Strategist to join their Marketing team. In this role you will play an important role in keeping the company at the cutting edge by: maintaining a pulse on consumer and advertiser trends; connecting multiple data sources to identify relevant insights; and developing strategic market assessments that feed the innovation pipeline and prioritize development investments. The ideal candidate possesses exceptionally strong business acumen; can effectively synthesize research; and has an insatiable curiosity about digital media.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in mining, synthesizing and communicating analyses of industry data, internal marketing data and business plans to gain relevant perspective on major market trends and competitive activity
  • Collaborate with marketing and product managers to craft new concepts, define value propositions, and develop business models in emerging media
  • Identify knowledge gaps and design research plans to generate the appropriate insights to fill them
  • Develop strong relationships with external research suppliers to ensure superior service and quality
  • Develop high-quality communications materials to communicate research findings and strategic opportunities to senior leadership
  • Evangelize “design thinking” by demonstrating the merits of insight-driven innovation and agile research
  • Stay abreast of trends and best practices in the media industry, consumer habits, and strategic advertising categories
  • Team with other members of the department on special projects related to specific business issues or cross-market initiatives

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business. MBA preferred.
  • 5 – 7 years experience in consumer/marketing strategy, research, product management, entrepreneurship
  • In depth knowledge and experience with digital media, web development, or ecommerce
  • Highly developed critical thinking/analysis skills with a demonstrated ability to identify strategic trends
  • Adept at analyzing financial models, marketing and product strategies
  • Desire to learn and continually develop one’s skills
  • Exceptional business writing, storytelling, communication, and presentation skills
  • Has an entrepreneurial spirit with a confident point of view
  • Proven relationship builder with demonstrated ability to lead and influence others without direct reporting authority
