ISV Technical Manager

Department: ISV Relations Team
The Global SUSE ISV and Developer team works with SUSE third party Independent Software Vendors (ISV) and Developers. The team ensures Software certifications of SUSE Linux Enterprise products with our third party ISV partners and maintains the SUSE Linux Enterprise Software Certification catalog. The team maintains relationships to a large number of ISV Partners worldwide as well as special relationships to our key ISV Partners such as IBM, Oracle, and SAP. The ISV Technical Manager works with our ISV partners in helping them build and architect integrated Linux solutions for appliances and public or private cloud images using SUSE Linux Enterprise.
The ISV Technical Manager works with our third party ISV Partners and Developers in the Global ISV team. Responsibilities include:
Support our ISV partner engineers in porting of software applications to SUSE Linux Enterprise
Support ISV Partners to adopt and implement SUSE technologies such as SUSE Linux Enterprise Server, SUSE Studio, SUSE Manager, SUSE high-availability solutions, virtualization and cloud technologies
Position and promote our SUSE Linux Enterprise products with our ISV Partners
Establish relationships to new ISV Partners and support them with porting and certifying their application on SUSE Linux Enterprise or building integrated Linux solutions.
Take part and present at various Linux events (i. e. internal and external exhibitions, conferences & workshops)
National & International traveling is required (~25%)
8+ years technical experience in enterprise software, Unix / Linux, datacenter technologies like storage, networking and security
In depth understanding of Linux, Linux system internals and the Linux kernel
Experience in Linux system administration and operation on an enterprise level
Experience with enterprise Linux applications like databases, webservices, middleware, enterprise business applications
Experience with Unix to Linux migrations
Software development skills in C, C++, shell scripting (Bash, Python, Perl, or Ruby)
Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are essential
Practical experience in project management (including a proven project management track record)
History in a customer or partner facing position with a Linux distributor, like in product management, sales, pre-sales or consulting
Familiarity with SUSE Linux Enterprise products, like SLES, SLED, SLES for SAP applications, SMT, SUSE Studio, SUSE manager, High-Availability extension, KIWI
