Sweden the Netherlands South Africa the USA and China Job Description SUMMARY The individual fulfilling this role will serve as a technical resource for the IT Infrastructure group in the areas of Windows systems storage architecture (SANNAS) and project implementation as well as systems administration and operation This individual will contribute knowledge for setting our technical direction as well as provide technical leadership or assistance for hardware and software implementations RESPONSIBILITIES The System Administrator (SA) is responsible for effective provisioning installationconfiguration operation and maintenance of storage systems systems hardware systems software and related infrastructure This includes support of Wintel server systems (physical and virtual) SAN and NAS storage systems Microsoft network environment and business applications for assigned company divisions and business units throughout the Americas region May provide services to other regions as required Ensure that system hardware (servers and storage) operating systems software systems and related procedures adhere to organizational standards and values Install new rebuild existing servers and storage systems Configure hardware peripherals services settings directories storage etc in accordance with standards and projectoperational requirements Support server environment on software and hardware issues including server builds configuration installs and upgrades operating systems data backup and other software and hardware tools Install configure and support VMware infrastructure including use of vSphere vCenter used in virtual system cloning template creation and migration Provide support for SAN and NAS storage systems including storage provisioning storage backup installing new hosts to the SAN HBA installation and configuration fibre channel and iSCSI (Ethernet) switch management Perform daily system monitoring verifying the integrity and availability of all hardware server and storage resources systems and key processes reviewing system and application logs and verifying completion of scheduled jobs such as backups Perform daily backup operations ensuring all required file systems and system data are successfully backed up to the appropriate media recovery tapes or disks are created and media is recycled and sent off site as necessary On storage systems perform regular file archival and purge as necessary Create change and delete user accounts for server systems storage systems and applications per request Apply OS patches and upgrades on a regular basis upgrade administrative tools and utilities upgrade end user applications Configure add new services as necessary Provide Tier II support to Service Desk personnel on storage workstation and application support issues as well as user and application account administration Investigate and troubleshoot issues Research and recommend innovative and where possible automated approaches for operational tasks Identify approaches that leverage our resources and provide economies of scale Receives general instructions for new responsibilities from supervisor or project lead May provide instruction and leadership to novice system administrators or operators Will maintain task status and documentation server and network diagrams and provide reports to management as requested REQUIREMENTS Bachelors degree in computer science or similar discipline or equivalent related experience Minimum of four years of previous system administrator experience Must have a minimum of three years previous experience and demonstrated ability in the following areas Installation configuration and support of VMware infrastructure including use of vSphere vCenter used in virtual system cloning template creation and migration Dstributed computing environment concepts can configure NTActive Directory domains PC and server hardware and must possess good analytical and troubleshooting skills Writng scripts in some administrative language (Ex Perl VBScript) Experience applying interpersonal and communication skills capable of writing purchase justifications training users in complex topics making presentations to an internal audience and interacting positively with upper management Experience with storage area networking design configuration implementation and administration of SAN and NAS systems and associated network hardware Network Appliance experience preferred Experience with most aspects of operating system administration for example system installation and configuration printer systems fundamentals of security installing thirdparty software Experience with distributed computing environment concepts can configure NTActive Directory domains Experience with PC and server hardware and must possess good analytical and troubleshooting skills Experience writing scripts in some administrative language (Ex Perl VBScript) Independent problemsolving selfdirection Experience with MS Office and associated application at an advanced user level Experience with LinuxUNIX systems a
