GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES - Prepares meals for patients and cafeteria using proper production systems. Working with other employees with a team attitude; performing duties in a clean and organized manner.
DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Prepares, seasons, and cooks food for patients, staff, visitors, and special functions.
Reviews menus to determine types and quantities of food.
Prepares quality food in sufficient quantities to cover all service requirements.
Coordinates timing of preparation in order to meet service schedules for patients, staff, visitors and catering services.
Adheres to standardization of recipes and portion control to prevent food waste and control cost.
Provides care and sanitation of equipment in production area.
Adheres to sanitation and safety standards (HACCP)
Utilizes knowledge of age specific needs of patient in performance of duties and responsibilities.
Orients and mentors new staff members.
Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
Practice and adhere to the "Code of Conduct" philosophy and "Mission and Value Statement".
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES - This position requires the following minimal requirements:
Must have customer service abilities including effective listening skills.
Must be detail-oriented with ability to sustain concentration over long periods of time.
Must have critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment.
Must role model ethical, safe, fiscally responsible practices
Must be able to read and comprehend written instructions and follow verbal instructions.
Must have the ability to handle multiple priorities.
Must demonstrate teamwork and team building skills
EDUCATION - High School diploma, GED, and/or Vocational / Technical training preferred
EXPERIENCE - Minimum one (1) year of food service experience in quantity food preparation/production in a hospital, extended care facility, or other quality food service operation preferred; previous experience in food preparation in a hospital highly preferred.
CERTIFICATE/LICENSE - completion of a Food Safety Course preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS - This position requires constant standing/walking, smelling, hearing, color vision and lifting 2-10 pounds. Frequently this position will require twisting, pushing/pulling, bending/stooping, working in hot, wet cold surroundings. Occasionally this position requires the use of arm and back muscles lifting 21-30 pounds and the use of power equipment.
