This is a PRN position. Varied hours as needed.

The BSW reports to the Counseling Coordinator. Serves as a member of the Hospice/VNA interdisciplinary team in providing assistance with social, emotional, economic concerns of the client and family, thus enabling them to achieve or maintain an optimal level of functioning. The social worker utilizes appropriate age-related client care protocols relating to the physical and psychosocial needs of neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric clients. For Hospice, the BSW coordinates bereavement services for the bereaved. Works closely with case managers and other IDT members to achieve fiscally sound and timely outcomes.

The BSW has a working knowledge of the principles of teamwork. The BSW is knowledgeable regarding the impact of impending illness and death on the client/family and has demonstrated knowledge and clinical experience in psychosocial and economical management of problems commonly occurring with an illness, terminal illness and during bereavement. Must be able to work with growth and development needs of all client populations.

When students are providing patient care, treatment, and/or services as a part of their training, any/all employees may be asked to supervise the students.

Required Skills

Graduate of an accredited social work program with a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work with one year of social work experience in a healthcare setting.

Must have South Dakota Social Work (LSW). Valid driver’s license is required.
