Position Description:
The Government Claims QC Specialist is experienced in the Government Claims process. The Specialist must review and supervise the processing and packaging of claims prior to submission to HUD for reimbursement of advances. The Specialist must ensure claims are accurate, filed under tight timeframes and in compliance with insurer guidelines. This position requires the ability to work in a collaborative/team environment aimed at continuous improvement while always meeting or exceeding expectations. Attention to detail is essential.

Activities Include but are not limited to, monitoring the status of evictions, property preservation, and payment of insurance/taxes. In addition, consolidating invoices, loan data and miscellaneous documentation related to fees/costs incurred during loan default.

Position Responsibilities:
Ensures HUD claims are in compliance with company and insurer standards through quality auditing, processing checks, and conflict resolution.

Reconciles eligible invoices and expense balances to the system as well as to the submission of eligible claim expenses.

Validates claims for accuracy and completeness, understanding what triggers to look for according to insurer specifications and guidelines.

Identify emerging issues or trends and elevate to leadership.

Reviews and determines reimbursement amounts from insurer to GMACM.

Builds strong relationships with our internal and external partners

Participates in projects, reports or assists with other tasks as determined by the Team Lead

Shares career development aspirations with management and takes additional leadership and associate development training recommended within a specified time frame

Required Skills:
Default mortgage claims (specific to HUD)/loan servicing experience; Basic accounting background

Team player and has a positive attitude; approachable

Strong communication skills with the ability to negotiate effectively

Conducts self with highest degree of professionalism

Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, ability to manage time effectively, ability to multi-task within a set amount of time and excellent decision making skills

Ability to work efficiently handling high volume work load and time constraints

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Access

Committed to making team a best in class claims department

Ability to “think outside the box”

Ability to work in a fast paced environment and adaptable to change

High School Education or Equivalent – College Degree preferred

Prefer a minimum of 2 years of default mortgage claims (HUD) experience

Quality control or quality assurance experience preferred
