A Lead Maintenance/Brookhaven, under the general direction of the Administrator/Brookhaven, is responsible for insuring that the grounds and buildings of the Brookhaven Medical Care Facility are safely and efficiently maintained. This employee supervises and evaluates the work of all maintenance personnel, schedules work assignments, and provides technical assistance and instruction in such fields as carpentry, painting, plastering, heating-cooling, plumbing and electrical repair. The Lead Maintenance person participates in safety and maintenance inspections, develops corrective and preventative maintenance programs and performs other related duties as required.

Required Minimum Entrance Qualifications:

As of the closing date of this announcement, the applicant must:
1. Have regular status as an employee of the Muskegon County Brookhaven Medical Care Facility.

2. Be a high school graduate or have successfully completed the General Education Development Test (GED); AND

Have a minimum of three (3) years of work experience in long term care or institutional setting which would include a broad area of building and grounds maintenance such as electrical repairs, heating-cooling, plumbing, carpentry, plastering, and painting.

3. Possess a valid Michigan Driver’s License.

Physical Conditions / Work Location:

An employee in this class must be in good physical condition to allow for extended periods of standing, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, working in cramped quarters and lifting or moving objects weighing up to one hundred (100) pounds.

The employee in this class performs work activities in and around the Brookhaven Medical Care Facility.

Additional Information:

The purpose of this recruitment is to establish an eligible list from which to fill present and future vacancies in this classification in the County system. For each opening, the Department Head has her/his choice of the candidates who meet the required minimum entrance qualifications. This list remains in effect for three months unless exhausted or extended.
