Benefit Associate jobs
Under general supervision, the Benefits Associate will serve as the primary contact for customers seeking assistance with Benefits-related information. The individual in this role will be responsible for staffing the reception desk Monday through Friday, from 7:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., responding to walk-in traffic as well as phone and email inquiries. Other duties of this position include ensuring benefits forms are current and appropriately stocked; managing health insurance termination notices; preparing health insurance Continuation Notices; disseminating information regarding the Wisconsin Retirement System and eligibility for retirement coverage; advising employees on their enrollment and eligibility deadlines; and preparing new employee benefit packets.

Job Knowledge, Skills and Abilities :
Qualified candidates will possess knowledge of and skill in the use of automated Human Resources Information Systems incorporating human resources, payroll, and benefits information; excellent interpersonal skills, including both oral and written communications; and the ability to organize workload in an efficient manner to meet competing deadlines. Other qualifications required for this position include the ability to communicate and explain information to various client groups (i.e., employees, applicants, faculty, staff, and students); skill in employing effective problem-solving techniques; and skill in the use of Personal Computers and Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Access, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.). Highly qualified candidates will have knowledge of the State of Wisconsin benefit programs.
Pursuant to Wis. Stat. Chapter 230.27(1m)(a), persons appointed to a project position within the State Classified Service must be residents of the State of Wisconsin.
