Director of the Bachelor in General Studies Degree Program

Eastern Illinois University invites applications for the position of Director of the Bachelor in General Studies Degree Program in the School of Continuing Education. This person will be responsible for the expansion, supervision and administration of the Bachelor of General Studies Program.
The Director’s responsibilities include:
Entrepreneurial leadership in the development, implementation and expansion of Bachelor of General Studies Degree Program;
Energetic advocate for BGS Degree Program and the nontraditional student;
Supervise and administer all aspects of programs and activities associated with the BGS;
Refine and expand BGS online degree initiative;
Define and expand degree program assessment plan;
Provide leadership in maintaining quality staff through recruitment, retention and development, with special attention to achieving Affirmative Action goals;
Conduct the evaluation of staff and make recommendations to the Dean, School of Continuing Education;
Long range planning;
Make BGS Degree into a model of integrative advising and be well versed in integrative learning concepts;
Make recommendations to the Dean, concerning budgets and the appropriate use of funds in the BGS;
Provide leadership in the development of preparation of publications and materials for the BGS Program and other SCE Programs;
Continuous environment scanning for program growth;
Develop degree/certificate options
Prepare reports/analysis concerning the Program as requested; and
Perform other duties as assigned by the Dean, School of Continuing Education.
Qualifications: Qualified applicants must hold a doctorate degree; strong oral and written communication skills; experience in adult nontraditional programs/teaching; online learning issues; and, significant higher education administrative experience.
Appointment Begins: August 1, 2011
Salary Range: Salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications.
