Vidant Medical Center is looking for a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to become part of our Radiology Team.

The Ultrasound department at Vidant Medical Center scans over 26,000 procedures annually. It is a growing modality that treats all types of patients from neonatal to geriatric.

Perform specialized tasks associated with operation of Ultrasound scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribed biological safety practices.
Demonstrates competent instrumentation skills.
Assist Radiologist with interventional procedures.
Evaluate scans for technical quality, appropriate labeling and transmit to PACS.
Charge procedures and supplies as appropriate to procedures being performed.
Demonstrates ability to teach responsibly to student technologists, staff technologists and residents as required.
Demonstrates cognitive sonographic skills to identify, record and adapt procedures in order to display appropriate anatomical, pathological and diagnostic information.
Demonstrates independent judgement skills to analyze sonograms, synthesize sonographic information and medical history, and communicate accurate assessments.
Provide safe care for the psychological and physical needs of patients for Ultrasound procedures.
Follow institutional practices of Infection Control.

Minimum Requirements .
2 years or more of formal Ultrasound education and training from accredited program.
Second year student of accredited program with physics certification or graduate of accredited program.
ARDMS certification of Physics and (1) specialty exam within 24 months of employment/transfer.
CPR certification.
Current compliance with CEU requirements.
