The Residence Hall Director is a live-in position responsible for the total administration and operation of a residential community. RHDs are expected to enhance the living environment of the residence hall by prioritizing four focus areas: sense of belonging, student learning, diversity, and physical environment. RHDs do this through staff and student development, resident outreach, community building, attention to facilities, and administrative organization. RHDs manage residence halls ranging in size from 350 to 760 residents.

Preferred: Master's degree in Behavioral Science area, such as Student Affairs/College Student Personnel, Counseling, or Higher Education and two years of residence hall employment experience.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
Period of employment: Start date is in mid-July. The RHD position is a 12-month contract. Classified Staff employees are in a probationary status for their first six months at NAU.
Work Hours: This position is full-time 40 hour week with some weekend and evening commitments. Full-time RHDs receive 11 days of paid vacation (used during the Winter and May downtime breaks). In addition, Residence Life provides two departmental flex days per month (non-accruing) for full-time RHDs due to varied hours that RHDs work. RHDs are expected to be on campus at least two weekends per month and for the following events: Opening & Closing, Homecoming, Family Weekend, and RA Selection weekends.
Background Checks: A criminal background investigation, employment history investigation, and a fingerprint check will be performed prior to an employment offer.
