The Section Supervisor directs and supervises the technical day-to-day operations of his/her respective Laboratory Section. Also, the Section Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Pathologists and Laboratory Director in evaluating the sections services in regards to patient population (including all age groups from neonates to geriatrics) and the physicians needs in regards to onsite versus offsite testing.
The following qualifications are the minimum requirements necessary to adequately perform this job. However, any equivalent combination of experience, education, and training which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities would be acceptable, subject to any legal and/or regulatory requirements.A.Education and Formal training: 2 or 4 year degree in Medical Technology, or a Bachelor's degree in a Chemical, Physical, or Biological Science. B.Work experience: 4 years of Laboratory training or experience, or both, in high complexity testing within the specialties or subspecialties of microbiology, chemistry, hematology, diagnostic immunology, or blood banking.C.Knowledge, skills and abilities required: Supervisory and management skills, communication skills, leadership skills, and proven technical skills.
Reports directly to the Laboratory Director.
