Provides technical support for computer Energy Management (EMS) Systems or Supervisory Control & Data Acquisition (SCADA) systems and other technical infrastructure used in Transmission or Generation Operations centers.
Position requires a high degree of adaptability, and a focus on meeting customer needs and continuous improvement in the systems supported.
Knowledge in at least one of the following areas: 1) EMS/SCADA, 2) Networking (TCP/IP, LAN/WAN, etc.) 3) AEP Custom Applications, 4) System Support, e.g., VMS and other Operating Systems, Real-time database, HMI management, etc. 5) Relational database technology.
Perform troubleshooting and problem resolution in assigned area of knowledge.
Design, build, and modify HMI displays.
Provide limited after-hours support for the EMS/SCADA system.
May require some assistance from higher-level analyst.
EMS/SCADA Analyst IV (Grade 6)
Bachelor’s degree and zero (0) years experience; OR
Associate’s degree and two (2) years experience; OR
Equivalent combination of education and/or experience in
Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
This job requires a strong academic and work background in Computer Science, Engineering, or Information Science. The candidate must have the ability to quickly learn complex data structures used in database modeling and analysis. Much of this job falls under NERC and NERC CIP guidelines, so the candidate must have the proven skills to meet all of these guidelines.
Preference is given to candidates that possess knowledge specific of the Alstom SCADA software, modeling tools, and the full-graphics display builder application. Experience in real-time SCADA databases and relational database technologies are highly desired. Knowledge of ICCP data structures and modeling tools is desirable.
