POSITION: Director of Human Resources, HR Business Partner

REPORTS TO: Vice President, Human Resources
We have been retained by a leading NYSE Aerospace and Defense Company to conduct an executive search to recruit a Director of Human Resources, HR Business Partner for its advanced technology electronic systems sector. Our client, a top international company, is a leading developer, manufacturer, integrator and supporter of a variety of advanced electronic and maritime systems for U.S. and international customers for national security and non-defense applications, with global sales that surpass $30 billion.
The Company focuses its efforts on the production of technologically advanced products in both the commercial and military markets, addressing competitive, high growth opportunities. This dynamic Company derives the majority of its revenues from products that are number one or two in their respective markets and a significant proportion of its revenue from outside the United States.
The sector seeking a Director of Human Resources, HR Business Partner has annual sales of approximately $8.0 billion and is a premier developer of leading edge advancements in the defense electronics markets. Customers include the U.S. and foreign governments and government agencies around the world. It ranks as one of the top ten prime contractors to the US Government Department of Defense in electronics and communications.
The Director of Human Resources will serve as business partner providing direct support to the executive leadership of a major division and to the staff in the accomplishment of business objectives. To this end, s/he will ensure the successful implementation of a wide range of strategic Human Resources programs, including talent acquisition and retention, employee development & talent management, recognition & rewards, and workforce-engagement-related initiatives. As HR Director, s/he will ensure effective & collaborative working relationships with campus and division HR Generalists and serve as focal point for the resolution of employee relations issues across the function.
The individual to be recruited for this position must have an undergraduate degree in an appropriate discipline and at least 10 years related professional and/or management experience. Additional qualifications include:
Knowledge and understanding of the business; organizational & leadership-development experience
Knowledge of dispute resolution and intervention techniques
Strong interpersonal-relationship and communication skills, analytical skills and working knowledge of human resources policies and processes
Ability to exercise sound, independent judgment in providing guidance and conflict resolution
Strict adherence to ethics and business conduct policies and company values
U.S. citizenship is required
Preferred Qualifications :
Proficiency in computer skills, and knowledge of federal, state, and local employment law preferable
