ConocoPhillips Alaska is currently recruiting for an experienced Construction Superintendent for its Western North Slope (WNS) projects.
It is important to note that the job title of "Construction Superintendent" is used uniquely at ConocoPhillips and is NOT directly comparable to the use of the title in the general construction industry. In the general construction industry this position is more comparable to a Construction Manager or Project Manager. This is the experience level required.
This position is Anchorage based until field work starts and then the position will be North Slope based on a rotation.
Responsibilities may include:
Leading HSE performance by communicating, fostering, supporting, and enforcing CPAI HSE policies, procedures, guidelines, requirements, and objectives
Promoting the use of HSE Leading Indicators, Proactive Measures and Predictive Indicators
Direct, on-site, supervision of a Construction Management Group (CMG) staff, and acting as part of a Project Management Team (PMT) reporting to the WNS Construction Superintendent in Anchorage, and/or a project Leader / Manager overseeing the execution of a specific project or program
Actively supporting the accountable manager (in this case the Alaska Construction Manager) in ensuring that construction processes are optimized and in control
An example would be ensuring the WNS Construction Supervisors are trained, have all the tools required to perform the work, and that they are operating within established boundaries
Providing Construction Planning along with bid preparation and evaluation, as well as Construction Readiness in Anchorage, as needed, to support the WNS Construction Projects
Providing on-site management of the field in support of all construction related activities
Managing the project execution in accordance with the project schedule; and ensuring accurate cost reporting, progressing, earned value, and productivity measurement to achieve the lowest possible cost outcome
Managing the resolution of material procurement, logistics, and site handling issues
Managing the development and implementation of all CPAI fabrication and construction contracts
Coordinating construction activities in conjunction with the activities of other field based CPAI groups and their Contractors
Coordinating full engagement with Operations, and compliance with procedures
Coordinating FCO implementation including supporting organizations
Coordinating turnover of completed projects to Operations
Legally authorized to work in United States
15+ years experience in a leadership role within construction management on oil/gas projects
10+ years direct experience in administering major components of construction execution plans, from contract set-up through execution and start-up
High school diploma/GED
Previous construction management experience in Alaska or a similar arctic environment on oil/gas projects
Previous experience in projects involving complex logistics of remote locations
Strong demonstrated interpersonal / team building skills
Strong demonstrated leadership, communication, ability to influence, and organizational skills
